This one is the reason many start collecting palys! Deep purple color which must be kept partially shaded from intense lighting to maintain it's color. Very large polyps @ $9 per polyp w/ discount for larger frags. This is picture of my mother colony. Palythoas are an easy coral to maintain and will do well under a variety of conditions. While similar to Zoanthids, Palythoas have much larger polyps.

Unusual soft coral in that polyps pulsate on their own. Requires low to moderate lighting and flow and will propagate quickly. Nice size frags @ $10! Larger colony available with multiple stalks for $25 as well

Very beautiful zoanthid colony with at least 500 polyps! This piece is over 5" X 4.5" @ $90. Zoanthids are very easy to maintain and will do well under a variety of conditions.

A picture doesn't do this intensely bright coral justice! A mixture of neon green and yellow with some red as well. Certainly one of the brightest corals in my display. Open Brains are an LPS requiring medium lighting and flow. Often found on a sand bottom. Can readily be feed meaty foods weekly. $55

Although Yalta is little known to the U.S., many Europeans and Asians visit generally through cruise ships. It is a especially popular amongst Germans and indeed a favorite of Hitler himself. His interest led to the capture and control of Crimea during WWII. Tens of millions of Ukrainians and Russians were killed by the Nazis.

Being alone in Russia I had to learn to read Russian quickly! It is actually a very easy language because unlike English all letters always make the same sound. Many letters are similar to English as well. For example in the blue this is pronounced chairnay moray which translates to Black Sea. We have all seen CCCP used as abbreviation for the Soviet Union. The Russian C makes an S sound and P is an R sound. Hence SSSR not USSR as we use.

This palace is surrounded by a huge estate with virgin pines centuries old, an overwhelming view of the Black sea, and the granite peaks of Ai Petrie as a stunning backdrop. When the infamous Yalta summit occured following WWII to decide the fate of European countries Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt each had homes in one of these Russian palaces. This was home to Prime minister Churchill. President Roosevelt stayed at the palace of Lavadia where the actual summit occurred.

Fishing for supper! Many Ukrainski and Russki [ Ukrainian and Russinan] camp at this state park. Food is readily available through fishing and diving. Seafoods are a huge part of the diet of these resourceful people.

An underground club located in Nikolaev with my friends Inga and Ekaterina. Russians are very curious of Americans although we have a reputation of being a little spoiled. Instead of selling drinks you buy the bottle [vodka of course] and juices and fruits are provided free of charge. Maybe 40 Ghryvna [$8] for the bottle! I truly have never seen such beautiful women in my life!

Cigarette stop for the marshrutka [bus]! Marshrutkas at far right and turqoise van to the right of this are typical transportation for Ukraine and Russia. Literally millions of these provide cheap and reliable transportation. This village had literally tens of thousands of campers located along the several kilometer shoreline. The blue sedan in the foreground is Russias most popular car the Lada.
